Part 1 – Contributor: Project SmartCLIDE

Using SmartCLIDE to increase the adoption of Cloud Solutions

The SmartCLIDE research project aims to bridge the gap between on-demand business strategies and the lack of qualified software professionals by creating a new cloud native IDE that makes it easier to develop and deploy cloud services.

Cloud computing is the main enabler for digital transformation because it allows organizations to disengage their growth from the need to acquire more powerful infrastructures. When companies move creation or composition of new services to their clouds, they can:

  • Create new services from scratch
  • Reuse code to compose new services
  • Adopt new types of pricing models
Parts of the workshop:
  • Introduction to the SmartCLIDE vision for a cloud based IDE
  • Introduction to the SmartCLIDE IDE
    • Service Creation and Composition
    • Deep Learning Engine
  • Roadmap for the SmartCLIDE IDE

Part 2 – Contributor: Project PHYSICS

Simplifying Function-as-a-Service (FaaS) application: from design to deployment and beyond

In recent years the advent of serverless computing has revolutionized the way applications are deployed and managed over Cloud environments. Furthermore, breaking down into functions enables a more scalable, cloud native design model for applications, although creating a further migration or adaptation need of current application logic to the new paradigm. Other challenges of the new design model include the porting of existing generic functionality, the grouping of relevant functions into more abstract functionalities as well as the easier wrapping, deployment and execution of the resulting logic on FaaS environments. In the workshop the architectural approach of the H2020 PHYSICS will be presented, across 3 stacks (from design, to deployment and operation), as well as an initial functionality driven design approach to alleviate the aforementioned migration process in the new paradigm.

Parts of the workshop:
  • Introduction to the PHYSICS Architecture and Stacks
  • Introduction to the PHYSICS Design Environment
