Learnings from the H-CLOUD session on Cloud adoption challenges at European Big Data Value Forum 2020

On 5 November 2020, H-CLOUD organised a panel session during the European Big Data Value Forum on “Adoption challenges toward a European Cloud Federation enabling European Data Spaces”. The session brought on stage different experts from relevant verticals to discuss the adoption challenges and requirements for Future Cloud that are core to ensure the success of a European Cloud Federation as enabler for Data Spaces. Moreover, it focussed on future services supporting distributed data sharing and processing in the Cloud-continuum.

The session, which was moderated by H-CLOUD project coordinator Federico M. Facca from Martel Innovate and H-CLOUD project partner Massimiliano Claps from IDC, started with an introduction by H-CLOUD sharing current findings on the adoption challenges linked to EU Cloud Federation and Future Clouds. The introduction was followed by a short presentation of Andreas Weiss, Director EuroCloud Deutschland and member of Gaia-X Architecture Board, on GAIA-X, the leading EU Cloud Federation project. Hereafter, Stefan Gasslitter and Daniele Gadler from Südtiroler Informatik AG gave a short presentation on AgriML – Machine Learning for Agriculture in South Tyrol. Then, Andrea Cruciani from Teamdev introduced Agricolus, a complete SaaS for agronomical needs. Finally, Ulrich Ahle, CEO FIWARE Foundation shared his view on Cloud Federation in Europe.

After the presentations, all speakers joined a panel discussion during which they provided their view on adoption challenges toward a European Cloud Federation enabling European Data Spaces. We thank all speakers and attendees for their precious contribution during this session. In case you missed it, you can watch the whole session here.
